What type of work does a volunteer do?
There are many ways that volunteers can contribute to the work of Alzheimer's Australia Vic.
Dementia Helpline Advisors
Dementia Helpline Advisors are volunteers who, supported by professional staff, receive telephone calls to the Dementia Helpline. Training is provided and a commitment of at least one day a month is required.
This volunteer role is particularly suited to people who have had personal experience with dementia and are happy to communicate via the telephone with a broad range of callers.
Community Speaking Volunteer
Trained volunteer community speakers respond to requests from the community when the aim of the request is to raise awareness of Alzheimer's Australia Vic services
Education role play
Trained volunteers, who have personal experience of a family member with dementia, enlighten medical students about people with dementia and their families and carers by engaging the students in a role play scenario, followed by sharing their personal story.
Administrative tasks
There is frequently a need to call on our bank of valued volunteers to provide a helping hand during the busy times.
Examples of this work include assisting with Christmas card packing, collating information resources and mail-outs.
And Other
The staff at Alzheimer's Australia Vic conduct a wide range of programs and projects and are constantly creating interesting and imaginative roles for volunteers. Register your interest in becoming involved.
