Five top Melbourne chefs will join forces for courses on Saturday 24 September to raise much needed funds to help fight dementia and support community projects for Alzheimer’s Australia Vic.

The unique culinary experience of A Night to Remember will be held at the RACV City Club as part of Dementia Awareness Week 2011. Alzheimer’s Australia Vic and the Rotary Club of Manningham have formed a special partnership to host the event.

"We are very pleased to have partnered with the Rotary Club of Manningham for our inaugural event," said Alzheimer’s Australia Vic Chief Executive Officer, Maree McCabe.

The chefs for the evening will be: Jeffrey Tan Chef De Cuisine, IPF Culinary Consultancy Services; Dale Lyman Executive Chef, William Angliss InstitutePhilippe Mouchel Executive Chef, PM24 Restaurant, Melbourne; Mark Normoyle Executive Chef, RACV City Club; and Pierrick Boyer Executive Pastry Chef, Le Petit Gateau.

"The generosity and commitment from the five renowned local chefs in supporting our fundraising efforts has been inspirational," Ms McCabe said.

The soon to be retired ABC local radio host, Derek Guille will act as Master of Ceremonies for the evening while guests savour the five unique courses from the menu designed by all the chefs especially for the night.

"Tickets for the event are now on sale for $175 per person with the proceeds from the event going towards supporting our services that every year assist tens of thousands of people living with dementia in Victoria, their families and carers.

Currently in Victoria there are 69,000 people with dementia and with 56 people developing dementia every day in Victoria, we urgently need funds to meet the growing needs of our community." Ms McCabe said.

The Rotary Club of Manningham hopes funds raised from the event will assist the work of Alzheimer’s Australia Vic, as well as other community programs the club supports.

"The club aims to support not only the work of Alzheimer’s Australia Vic, but a variety of projects we are involved in within our local community and internationally, including environmental planting schemes and international health programs," said Rotary Club of Manningham President, Ian Goldsmith.

"Our members are committed to helping Alzheimer’s Australia Vic raise awareness about dementia and supporting its’ vital work.

"A Night to Remember promises to be just that – and we look forward to celebrating the work of both organisations with our guests".

As well as a five course feast, the night will feature a live auction and silent auction with two Qantas business class return tickets to Los Angeles and a beautiful diamond experience from Holloway Diamonds just a taste of some of the items on offer.
