The Opposition respond to their Valentine's Day cards

21 February, 2012
The Leader of the Opposition, Tony Abbott, and Shadow Finance Minister, Andrew Robb have responded to their Valentine’s Day cards.

You may have already seen Leader of the Opposition, Tony Abbott's tweet on Twitter, but just in case you haven't this is what it said:

Tony Abbott @TonyAbbottMHR
Appreciate the many cards from @AlzheimersAus about the need for more funding into causes of dementia. A timely reminder of a great cause.

Mr Abbott's Senior Advisor also sent a letter of acknowledgement to our National President, Ita Buttrose. To read it click here.

We have also received acknowledgment from Shadow Finance Minister, Andrew Robb.

You can read Andrew Robb's letter here.

The Valentine’s Day event, which involved thousands of cards being sent from people affected by dementia to their political leaders, was part of Alzheimer’s Australia’s Fight Dementia Campaign. The campaign asks the government to commit to a five year $500 million dementia action plan in the 2012-13 Federal Budget for dementia awareness, early diagnosis, care and support, risk reduction and investment in research.
