These generous, tax-free scholarships are valued at $30,000pa for three years.
The two Dementia Research Grants are valued at $40,000 each.
Two of the PhD scholarships were made possible through generous donations from the Viertel Foundation and Resthaven Inc. All other grants are a product of generous public donations.
Alzheimer’s Australia CEO Glenn Rees said “These scholarships and awards will encourage talented emerging researchers to become involved in dementia research. By building this solid foundation of dementia researchers, Alzheimer’s Australia is helping to build Australia’s capacity to undertake vital research into dementia prevention, treatment and care.
We also hope to encourage the Government to respond by increasing funding for dementia research in line with other chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease.”
“As a consumer organisation, Alzheimer’s Australia is committed to ensuring that dementia research is both relevant to the issues experienced by consumers, and results in tangible and beneficial outcomes,” said Mr Rees.
