The “Lost Memories Charity Event”, was held on the 7th October, in Orange NSW. The Trengove family aimed to raise $25,000, but more than doubled their target and raised almost $55,000 for dementia research.

The fundraising event was in honour of Rhonda Trengove, wife and mother of the Trengove family.  Family and  friends worked for months to plan and organise the successful event with proceeds from ticket sales, raffle, an auction and donations raising money and awareness of dementia, in particular Early Onset Dementia. These funds will be used to support dementia research through Alzheimer’s Australia Dementia Research Foundation to support research into the cause, possible treatments and cures for this debilitating and terminal illness.

Sue Pieters-Hawke and Sophie Pieters-Hawke were guest speakers and gave a wonderful, heart-felt presentation about what dementia has meant in their family with their mother and grandmother, Hazel Hawke.

In the lead up to the Lost Memories Charity Night, both local and state wide businesses generously supported the Trengove family’s fundraising efforts by providing sponsorship for the organisation of this event and gifts for the auction.

Alzheimer’s Australia would like to thank the Trengove family, and all who contributed to making the Lost Memories Charity Night a huge success.
