Alzheimer's Australia ACT offer a free information session for family members or friends caring for a person with dementia.

For many people, dementia is about gradually losing your memory until you’ve forgotten everything, including those you love. Although memory loss is a feature of dementia, dementia is actually the term used to describe a wide range of neurological conditions, most of which are incurable.

In this session we’ll explore the complex nature of dementia, and we’ll look at some of the more common forms of dementia and how they affect people. We’ll talk about what we know about the causes and what we don’t, about the usual progression of the different types of dementia, and about the risk factors for developing dementia and what we know that might help protect us against it.

There will be ample opportunity for everyone to ask questions and to share in the discussion, should they wish.  Morning tea will be provided.

If you require respite care to attend this session, please contact the ACT Carer Respite Centre on 62969900 or 1800 059 059.

* If registering as an Alzheimer's Australia member you will be required to supply a valid membership number upon arrival at the event.
