Anecdotal evidence has shown that the arts can have a positive impact on health. The evidence indicates that engaging with the arts can help people to manage pain, minimise stress and anxiety, deal better with the side effects of some treatments and to find a path to acceptance of major and distressing events in their lives. It has also been found that incorporating the arts into the care experience has positive benefits for all - staff, consumers and carers.

Speaker:  Michele Hawkins, Education Manager, Alzheimer's Australia ACT

In this presentation Michele will give an overview of the empirical evidence gleaned from over 300 published research papers.
